Sequence Puzzles - Fall Themed

Sequence Cards - Fall themed

These are Fall themed sequence puzzles made for three-step sequencing of everyday events that happen during Thanksgiving and Fall/Autumn. It has 36 puzzle pieces to form 12 puzzle strips. Your students can sort them starting with the first strip, putting the three pieces together in the right order, study what's happening in each picture, then write about it in the lines provided on the sequence mats. I would highly recommend this set as an introductory lesson for sequencing because they are clear and simple and the puzzles are self correcting.  It is available here at my TpT store.

The mats and puzzles are in both color and a black and white version bundled in a zip folder.

They are for teachers to give to students and their families, cards for students to give to their teacher, and cards for students to give to their parents/grandparents/family members. Free Animal to Habitat Sorting Mats

Here's an easy hand-on way for students to sort animals by habitat. It's a free set of sorting mats for you to download and you can get it here. You will need plastic animals or small pictures of animals. The habitats are both natural and manmade (the farm).  You will need small plastic animals or small pictures of animals.  I  have a small collection of plastic animals (see picture below) but I linked it to a larger set available on amazon. Click on any of the habitat pictures below to see it at TpT collection.

3D Shape Scoot Cards

3D Shape Scoot game

Scoot is fun! I first learned about it from other TpTers and I just had to try it. That was about five years ago and it has been one of the most exciting games in my class. It started out as a rough sketch for 3D shapes and has since been given quite the facelift so that it can now be TpT worthy. This is a set of Scoot Cards for these 3D shapes: cube, cuboid / rectangular prism, sphere, cone, cylinder, triangular pyramid, square based pyramid, and triangular prism. It has an answer key for all 24 task cards as well as answer recording sheets that come in different sizes for the amount of task cards you may want your students to complete in one scoot session.  Instructions for playing Scoot are included.  This set can be used as straight-up task cards or as a Scoot activity.  The questions in these task cards include some higher order thinking skills so I recommend it for the upper grades or accelerated learning classes.  It is available here in my TpT collection.

Back to School Compound Words

Compound Words for Back to School theme

Back to School Compound Word ActivitiesYou won't believe how many compound words there are in the English language! It's only through brainstorming and making my lists, that I realized I may as well group them into themes since my word list was really too long.             These are my Back to School themed compound word puzzles. They were really fun to make. The cards are perfect for group work and stations. Each puzzle card has the compound word at the top with a picture and the two cut-apart words below with matching pictures. This set has 28 closed compound words.                                                                                                                                          The back to school compound words in this set are: classroom, notebook, clipboard, backpack, paintbrush, laptop, superhero, smartboard, lunchbox, homework, whiteboard, timeout, cupboard, bookcase, handwriting, chalkboard, bookworm, wheelchair, notepad, playground, playdough, newsletter, paperclip, lunchtime, noticeboard, earphone, birthday, and printout. They can also be used as compound word flashcards.                                                                                                                                            The size of these cards may be right for you but if you would prefer to have them smaller, you can always set them to print on a smaller scale such as 4 pages per printing page. Detailed printing instructions are included in this PDF file.

I took as many pictures as I could to show the variety of puzzle pieces (see below).

About Me

My photo
As a Caribbean primary school teacher, I share my unique classroom with the world through this blog. Readers step into my class through the pictures, articles and classroom samples of games and lessons used in my class. I have been teaching since 2005 at the std. 4 primary level in Trinidad and Tobago. I am particularly interested in sharing my own personal lesson plans, tests and activities. Teachers need to share ideas and support each other because in doing so, we help to educate our students and develop ourselves as teachers. Technology is ever evolving and we as teachers should get on board with it, collaborate and keep up to date with this new age that we live in. Our students belong to this technological era and we must embrace opportunities to learn from each other in this global community. I also love to express my creativity in the classroom. I am a bit of a craftster . So I'm always cutting, gluing or making something... a game, a chart, a learning center, etc. So, teachers and parents, feel free to stop by and see what's new at Nyla's Crafty Teaching!
